This Survey covers the US commercial banking industry, with a focus on money center and the largest regional banks. The money center segment comprises banks located in major US financial centers that are involved in international lending and foreign currency operations, in addition to the typical lending and deposit activities. The regional banks segment comprises companies with operations in one or a few geographic areas or states. Also covered are so-called super-regionals, which operate across many states or geographic areas. "Diversified Banks" and "Regional Banks" are GICS sub-industries in the "Financials" sector of the S&P 1500. Industry Surveys covers more than 50 of the largest and most significant US industries. The information provided for each follows the same general format: the industry's recent performance, an analysis of trends that will influence it in the future, and a broad and fundamental overview of its structure. Both text and data are provided, as are references to additional sources of industry information, including Web sites.
